Full day tours from Glasgow or Edinburgh leaving in the morning, returning early evening. First stop on this  history  steeped  tour of  Scotland  is  Stirling  with  its famous  castle,  quaint old town,  famous  battle  sites  (Bannockburn and Stirling  Bridge)  and the  Wallace  Monument  built  by  the Victorians in homage to the great man himself.  From  Stirling  the  tour  takes  us

Following the route of General Wade's old military road takes us up to Glencoe, the valley of sorrows and site of the the most infamous massacre in Scottish history where members of the Clan Campbell, on government orders, murdered the resident MacDonalds as they slept.

On hitting the coast at Loch Leven the route takes us south down Loch Linnhe into Argyll, old Jacobite country with many of the best preserved medieval castles standing in Scotland. Between Ballachuillish and Oban we pass Castle Stalker, Dunstaffnage Castle and Dunnollie Castle. Time for lunch and a stroll in Oban, gateway to the Inner Hebridean Islands and then it is off to Loch Awe and the impressive ruins of Kilchurn Castle, abandoned in 1760 following a damaging lightning strike.

A few miles further down the road is the town of Inveraray with its impressive chateau style baroque castle still occupied by the the Duke of Argyll, head of Clan Campbell. From Inveraray we travel around Loch Fyne, up and over the Arrochar Alps via the infamous 'Rest and be Thankful' pass and down the west side of Loch Lomond. Time permitting a short stop at the heritage village of Luss may be possible before returning to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
