Road Journey Time between Glasgow & Edinburgh To Be Reduced By 2017

The journey time between Edinburgh and Glasgow is set to become shorter by 2017 following the announcement by Transport Scotland that four companies have been invited to tender for work to upgrade the A8 to motorway status between Baillieston and Newhouse. This will reduce travel time for passengers travelling between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow and Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport bringing the two cities ever closer.
As well as the new section of the M8, work will also begin in 2013 to widen stretches of the M73 and M74 to three lanes completing Central Scotland's motorway network. The completed roads should ease traffic congestion between Edinburgh and Glasgow at peak times particularly the daily bottle neck between Coatbridge and Eurocentral during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
KinClan MPV Executive Travel hope that this news will allow us to offer an even more efficient and quicker transfer service in the near future between the nations two biggest cities and airport. Journey time between Glasgow city centre and Edinburgh Airport currently takes between 45 - 60 minutes and from Edinburgh Airport to Glasgow, approximately 60- 90 minutes depending on time of day.
